Light Toasted

By | style component: color

We are continuing in our series about finding your best colors, based on not just your personal coloring but your personality as well.

Patricia is a wife, mom of 4, CPA, and entrepreneur helping others achieve more confidence and live better lives. Over the past year, I’ve witnessed her blossom and it’s been fun to watch. When Patricia recently attended a local networking event wearing an emerald green top, I couldn’t wait to add her to the color blog series.

* Dominant Color Temperature: Mostly warm

* Skin Tone: Ivory

* Hair Color: Dark Strawberry Blonde

* Eye Color: Cool, Deep Blue

*Coloring  Contrast Level: Medium

(Patricia has light ivory skin with medium depth eye and hair color. And although she’s quiet, she’s finding her voice. Therefore, out of the 2 color resonances I picked for Patricia, I chose the stronger – more saturated one.)

* Personality: Quiet, Strong, Witty, Inquisitive, Compassionate

* Color Resonance as it relates to personality: Light Toasted

(Resonance is the visual impression of a hue in relation to the pure pigment.  It is the result of how a pigment is lightened or darkened.  The 5 resonance qualities are:

Washed = pure pigment + thinned with water , colors appear clear, pretty and crisp

Tinted =  pure pigment + white, colors appear light hearted, sweet and innocent

Shaded = pure pigment + black, colors appear serious, profound and mysterious

Toasted = pure pigment + brown, colors appear warm, mellow and luscious

Muted = pure pigment + complement color,  colors appear soft, gentle and subtle

Rich Toasted

Jen Snyder of Jen Snyder, Motherhood Blogger-Photographer and I are still working on this great blog series about finding the best colors for you based on your coloring and your personality. This month’s post is all about Rich Toasted, as modeled by the lovely Charma. When I saw Charma in the leather jacket, hat and scarf outfit, I knew those were her colors. Why? Because her complexion was glowing and she was oozing confidence. Read on to learn about how her skin tone, hair color, and personality combine to a color palette that looks great on her. But wait, there’s more! Here’s Charma in our collaborative Winter Style Guide.

* Dominant Color Temperature: Warm – with some cool

* Skin Tone: Golden-Dark

* Hair Color: Black

* Eye Color: Dark Brown

*Coloring Contrast Level: Medium

(Charma’s beautiful golden-dark skin tone is lighter than her hair and eyes, therefore a medium contrast in her clothing choices will work nicely with her natural coloring)

* Personality: kind, smart, grounded, determined and serene

* Color Resonance as it relates to personality: Rich Toasted

(Resonance is the visual impression of a hue in relation to the pure pigment.  It is the result of how a pigment is lightened or darkened.  The 5 resonance qualities are:

Washed = pure pigment + thinned with water , colors appear clear, pretty and crisp

Flattering Color Swatch for Most Skin Tones

By | style component: color | No Comments

Why should you care about the colors your wear? Because flattering colors worn near your face (either in clothing or accessories such as a necklace, scarf or tie) act like a mini, brightening makeover! But unless you’ve had a professional color-analysis, it can be challenging to know which ones are the most flattering. Here are a few tips and tools:

-Wear the colors you get compliments in!
-Ask yourself if the color makes your skin look creamy or does it wash you out? We want creamy.
-When in doubt, wear universally flattering colors such as: teal, warm pink, true red, medium purple, periwinkle and medium blue.

****Please note, this is a guideline. Of course you can wear any color, but some will absolutely make you look more vibrant and youthful.****
